These terms are the agreement between you and Free Will Eats when you create an account, place an order, or start a subscription. They are written to be read, not to be survived. If anything here is unclear, email us at Freewilleats@gmail.com and a human will answer.
Free Will Eats is a founder-led meal prep kitchen operating out of 100 Symes Rd, Toronto, Ontario. We cook a new high-protein menu each week, portion and label it, and deliver it across the Greater Toronto Area or have it ready for pickup.
“We” and “us” mean Free Will Eats. “You” means the person placing the order. Reach us any time at Freewilleats@gmail.com.
You need an account to order, and you must be old enough to enter into a contract in Ontario — 18 or older — to have one. Keep your details accurate and your password to yourself; orders placed from your account are treated as placed by you.
We may suspend or close an account that is used fraudulently, abusively, or in a way that puts our staff or other customers at risk. If we do, we refund anything you have paid for food we have not yet cooked.
The menu for a delivery week goes up on Thursday. Orders for that week close at 6pm Eastern on the Thursday before delivery. We cook on Friday and deliver Friday or Saturday, fresh and never frozen.
An order is confirmed when you complete checkout, not when you add items to the cart. Up to the cutoff you can cancel it yourself; after the cutoff it is locked. That is set out in full on our refunds page.
All prices are in Canadian dollars and are shown before tax on the menu. HST is applied at the rate that applies to each item and is shown on your order, along with any delivery fee, before you pay.
Card payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe directly and we never receive or store your full card number.
For one-time pickup orders you may choose to pay in person when you collect. That order is confirmed and cooked exactly like a paid one; it is simply not settled until handover. If you do not collect it, we cannot resell it, and we may decline in-person payment on future orders.
A subscription is a weekly plan held for a term. We save a payment method and charge you once for each week you actually receive food, based on what is in that week’s box.
We deliver to the address on the order. Please make sure it is correct and that the food can be received — it is fresh, it is perishable, and it is not safe left out. If you will not be home, leave delivery instructions we can actually follow.
Pickup orders are collected from the pickup location shown at checkout and in your order confirmation, during the window given there. What happens when a delivery fails or a pickup is missed is set out on our refunds page.
This is the most important clause on this page, so it is written plainly.
Our food is prepared in a single kitchen that handles every one of Health Canada’s priority allergens — milk, eggs, mustard, peanuts, tree nuts, sesame, soy, fish, crustaceans, molluscs and sulphites — along with wheat and the other gluten sources. We cannot guarantee that any meal is free from any allergen. Allergen listings describe the ingredients we put in a recipe. They are not a statement that no trace of anything else can reach the food.
Meals arrive chilled and ready to reheat. Follow the storage, best-before and reheating instructions on the label and on the meal’s page. Once food has left our hands, how it is stored and reheated is out of our control and is your responsibility.
Macros and calories are calculated from our recipes and the portion weights we cook to. They are close, they are honest, and they are estimates — hand-portioned food varies a little, and we do not lab-test every batch.
The plan builder gives you calorie and macro targets based on what you tell it. It is a starting point, not medical, dietary or fitness advice, and it does not account for a medical condition, a medication, a pregnancy or an eating disorder. If any of those apply, talk to a doctor or a registered dietitian before changing how you eat.
Codes have conditions — a minimum order, a first-order-only rule, a usage limit, an expiry — and those conditions are checked when you apply the code. Total discounts are capped, so a code can be reduced to fit the cap. Codes carry no cash value, and we can withdraw one that is being abused or that we published in error.
Order confirmations, cutoff reminders, delivery updates and account emails are part of the service and are sent whether or not you have opted into marketing.
Marketing email is sent only with your express consent, which we ask for at signup and record. Every marketing message identifies us and carries a working unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately. You can withdraw consent at any time from that link or by emailing Freewilleats@gmail.com.
The site, our recipes, photography, menu copy and branding are ours. You are welcome to share them; you are not welcome to scrape the site, resell our food as your own, or interfere with how the service runs for anyone else.
We are responsible for the food we cook and for the service described on this site, and we make it right when we get it wrong — the refunds page says exactly how.
Beyond that, and to the extent the law allows, our liability for any order is limited to what you paid for it, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under Ontario’s Consumer Protection Act, 2002 or any other law that cannot be contracted out of — including, plainly, our responsibility for the safety of the food we sell you.
We update these terms as the business changes, and the date at the top tells you which version you are reading. The terms that apply to an order are the ones published when you placed it. If we make a change that materially affects subscribers, we email about it before it takes effect.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the laws of Canada that apply in it, and the courts of Ontario have jurisdiction.
